ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN MEDICAL VIROLOGY

Since the last revision of this volume, the rate at which
knowledge is being added to the field of virology has not slowed
down. Although this has necessarily limited our consideration of
other viruses, we have attempted to maintain a thorough covering
of virology while prioritising human and animal virus systems when
incorporating these developments into the book. There is still a lot
we don’t know despite our constant search for answers. In
particular, little is known about the close molecular connection that
viruses have with their hosts. We have attempted to highlight the
areas where these knowledge gaps exist and where future studies
are most likely to be directed.
